The good life at Chateau Carsac

My dad bought a big old house in the south of France and Louise and I went to stay for two weeks, to read books, eat food and generally laze around the place. It was great. We also did a bit of exploring around the area of Bordeaux and the Dordogne valley, looking at cave sculptures and tasting wine.

So long, white cliffs of Dover
The Palace of Versailles
More Versailles
Pointing horseman, probably a king of some kind
Me and the famous gardens of Versailles, we didn't get time to explore more than this sadly
The view from our bedroom at my dad's house on the first morning. We arrived during the night and this was the first we saw of the coutryside
The main windows on the first floor, looking down into the garden
The lovely old stone staircase, taken from the attic floor
The local church, viewed from an attic window
The whole house was really nice and light during the day, it has lots of big windows
The dining room, not yet decorated by my dad
The bathrooms were in the tower, and so were octagonal
The outside of the tower
The least run down of the three out-buildings, plus thoroughly exercised little car
The window of our room, this front part of the house is newer than the rest, but not perceptibly so
The back of the house, facing into the hamlet of Carsac
The front of the house from the garden
The slightly dogier out-building
The tower
Fig tree with many many figs
Mmm, lovely juicy figs, these provided breakfast for the whole of the two weeks we stayed
The drive to the house from the village, the building on the left is the last of the out-buildings and the most beaten up, ahead and left is other people's property
The view up to the house (centre, left of the church) from the road to Villefranche
Breakfast!
Getting down to the business of being on holiday
