The good life at Chateau Carsac

My dad bought a big old house in the south of France and Louise and I went to stay for two weeks, to read books, eat food and generally laze around the place. It was great. We also did a bit of exploring around the area of Bordeaux and the Dordogne valley, looking at cave sculptures and tasting wine.

Vineyards, the house is deep in Bordeaux and Bergerac growing areas
Riding home from Villefranche
Dozing in the hammock
Louise dancing, I can't remember why
We ate dinner outside most nights, eating salads and prawns and bits of meat, all lovely and fresh
The church in Bergerac, we visited the town on market day, Saturday
The market stocked loads of local produce, including quite a lot of organic (biologique) stuff
Bergerac was a nice little town, and home of Cyrano, of course
The Dordogne lazing through Bergerac
Un chateau
The other wing of the same chateau, designed by the same people as the Louvre
Chateau Beynac lording it over the Dordogne valley
The gate house at Chateau Beynac
The view along the cliffs from Chateau Beynac
The beautiful view up the Dordogne valley from Chateau Beynac, five other chateau are visible if you look closely. The Dordogne was the border between France and English-controlled France
Chateau Beynac in all it's hefting glory
